We’ve all seen the magic demos. You type a simple sentence into a low-code platform like

, , or , and poof — a fully functional app appears. The promise is incredible, with some platforms calling this the most significant evolution in their history. This conversational approach, sometimes called “vibe coding,” aims to let anyone become a software creator.

But as with any magic trick, it’s worth asking what’s really happening behind the curtain. When you ask an AI to build an application, are you guaranteed a masterpiece?

The answer depends less on the AI and more on you.

The AI as a great intern

Imagine you have a brilliant intern. They’re incredibly fast, follow instructions to the letter, and can handle complex, repetitive tasks in seconds. This is the role AI plays in many low-code platforms. It’s an amazing executor. If you give it a clear and well-thought-out blueprint, it will build you a perfect, robust structure in a fraction of the time it would take to do it manually.

The problem is, you wouldn’t ask your intern to design the entire blueprint for a skyscraper. That requires an architect — someone with a deep understanding of core principles, potential problems, and the “why” behind…
